Physical education and sport
In Oktyabrsky District there is a stadium for 300 seats with a set of sports grounds, 16 sports halls, and 46 sports grounds.
Launched in 2006, the Children's and Youth Sports School of Oktyabrsky District has facilities for game sports and martial arts, gyms, a swimming pool, and two saunas.
The school offers classes in athletics, boxing, and freestyle wrestling.
Its hockey rink is used as a skating rink in winter.
The school offers a paid access to the swimming pool, sauna, game sports hall, gym, martial arts hall, table tennis hall, etc. Equipment rentals are also available.
Every year Oktyabrsky District hosts a year-round sports contest in 12 sports, a sports contest among students, and a sports contest among children and teenagers.
Volleyball is one of the most popular sports in Oktyabrsky District. A number of volleyball tournaments are held here, including A.E. Yegorov Memorial Tournament, A. Kovalev Memorial Tournament, and the inter-district tournament timed to Rudobelka’s anniversary.
Tourist gatherings among students and working youth in summer and also sports events dedicated to important dates have become a good tradition for Oktyabrsky District.
Sports activities held in the district are aimed at popularizing sports among people and, primarily, among the youth, promoting a healthy lifestyle, managing away bad habits and choices.
Teams and athletes of Oktyabrsky District are regular participants in Gomel Oblast competitions and championships.
One of the legs of the Belarusian Time Attack Car Racing Championship takes place in Oktyabrsky District every year.
